First things first, as an intermediate surfer it is vital that your are able to analyse the ocean, tides, currents, rips, swell and more. Our instructors will take you around a few different spots on the island analyzing the conditions before making a decision on where has the best waves and why. This is a vital part of your training as it teaches you to make informed decisions on where best to surf so that in the coming months when you may be paddling out without our instructors guidance you will be able to safely and accurately make decisions on where is best to surf, and how to spot dangers in the water.
Once in the water our instructors will help guide you as to how to read waves, where and how to paddle and of course we will start taking a more in depth look into your surfing technique and practicing those all important turns, cutbacks, trimmings and how to use your body to preform these moves most effectively.
Depending on the conditions and how well your group in progressing, your instructor may also include some video coaching, which will be analysed back at the office after the session. This will give you the chance to see your technique first hand and see what you are doing wrong and how to fix it!
